Having trouble connecting VGA monitor.
I've got a brand new machine (HP9000 rp3410 - PA RISC) that I'm turning on for the first time. It has a factory installed Video Card that I'm trying to hook a monitor to. The problem is that after I turn the machine on, I don't see anything on the monitor. I can hear the fans moving, and the green power light comes on. The only other light that is blinking is the System Light, which is blinking yellow 1/second or so. (The 4 Diagnostic LEDs are all off.)
Like I said, this is the first time that I am trying to start the machine,so networking is not yet set up, so remote access is not possible. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Having trouble connecting VGA monitor.
is it a PCI graphics card or the VGA on the MP?
The VGA on MP is not supported.
Anyway, for the initial setup you need to connect to the serial console!
see
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6006/ch03.html
and
http://docs.hp.com/en/A7137-96007/ch01s06.html
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Having trouble connecting VGA monitor.
http://docs.hp.com/en/A7137-96007/ch01s01.html#i1021437
and find the DISABLED vga port.
"...
15-pin female video connector. DISABLED├в DO NOT USE. To enable video capability you must obtain the supported A6150 video PCI card. See enclosed ReadMe, A6150-90001..."
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Having trouble connecting VGA monitor.
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm actually using a PCI graphics card. If I'm understanding properly, you're saying that even with this set up, I will still need to go through the serial console first, right? I'd prefer to use the VGA monitor (just because the hardware is a bit more acessible), but if I need the serial console, I'll give it a try. I will take a look at the documents that you linked and let you know if have further questions.
Again, thanks a bunch!

Re: Having trouble connecting VGA monitor.
Have a look in this section
http://docs.hp.com/en/netcom.html#Remote%20Manageability%20%26amp%3B%20Graphics/USB%20Cards
and select the adapter you have.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
