Hello,
How can i set the HP9000 rp3410 to boot from CD? I have to update the firmware before i can install 11.31.
Also, is there a way to do some kind of pxe boot or similar?
Thanks.

SolutionTo boot from CD-ROM you can perform the following:
- Install the CD into the drive (I assume this is a CD created with the bootable firmware image?)
- From the BCH Main Menu run the boot command as follows:
> bo 0/0/2/0.0.0
- If you are not using the internal CD/DVD drive, then run the SEA command to search and display all drives and select the appropriate one to boot from.
- When prompted to interact with IPL answer 'n' to allow the system to boot to the firmware update utility. If this does not happen automatically, then do the following:
> from the ISL prompt enter 'ode'
> from the ODE prompt enter 'fupdate'
> from the FUPDATE prompt update each component using the command 'update <fw-file>' Reference the readme file to determine the order of installation (typically MP, SFW, BMC - but best to check).
HP 9000 does not support PXE, but does offer LAN Boot using bootp. To boot from an IP address (as in an Ignite/UX server) use the command: bo lan.ip-address install

Re: How to boot from CDROM for firmware upgrade and OS upgrade?
ok, i am getting a failed with ENTRY_INIT STATUS = -7
my boot paths appear as:
P0 0/0/2/0.0
P1 0/1/1/0.0
P2 0/1/1/1.1
Based with what you mentioned i modified the path to look like P0. I also tried booting with the path you specified and i m still getting the same failed error.
I used the package that HP gave me. Maybe they sent me the wrong one.
Thanks for the help.

Re: How to boot from CDROM for firmware upgrade and OS upgrade?
Thats acting like it not a bootable disk. You can download the firmware here:
Click on "Cross Operating System (BIOS, etc)"
Locate Firmware - System and download the file. This contains an ISO image that is burned to a CD which will then be bootable.

Re: How to boot from CDROM for firmware upgrade and OS upgrade?
Boot to the boot menu, do a "search" and do
bo p0
if p0 is the correct entry.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How to boot from CDROM for firmware upgrade and OS upgrade?
Well, the problem was that i was using a CD-ROM and the server has a DVD drive that happens not to be able to read CDs. Once i burned the image to a DVD, it worked.
However, the readme says to:
update PDC5040
update BMC0352
update E0332
After i did the first one, the system's console seems to be locked. I am still able to do ctrl+B to use the MP though. In the log entries i saw somthing that read:
BMC Type-02
SFW CPU Stop
SFW Unexpected Interrupt
SFW CPU_intrigued_LDB
SFW CPU_Stop
SFW Unexpected Interrupt
I dont want to just do a reboot, since it doesnt seem like the system is totaly frozen as i can still use the MP... There is just no progress indication...
I guess, i ll call in support for this issue.
Thanks for your help.
