Re: IODC ENTRY_INIT failed. Error Status: -5
waht system do you have and what is that boot path pointing to?
from the main menu at BCH first do a search for devices.
MA>sea
if that finds your device(dvd rom drive) for example then do a search for bootable media
MA>sea ipl
see if this returns your path?
if it doesnt your on the wrong path, or you do not have something bootable for whatever reason. could be bad media or drive.
post the results and what systenm it is.

Re: IODC ENTRY_INIT failed. Error Status: -5
The H/W path is 0/0/1/1/0/4/0.4
and it is pointing to an external DVD drive and HP-UX11.23 OS DVD 1/2 is there and that is a good media. It is really a surprise why I am not able to boot from that device.
Thanks for your reply.

Re: IODC ENTRY_INIT failed. Error Status: -5
well does the dvd drive get seen at BCH with or without media in the drive? what does a search return? can you post the output?
what is the drive model number?
that path sounds like it could be an optional IO card? is it? if so what part/model number is it? is the card seem in the in io menu at BCH? can you post this?
Also what is the system?
the error -5 means the system cannot find anything to boot from at that hardware address? so lets start at the beginning by some more information
