L2000 boot from tape doesnt work

Hi,

i've got a hp server L2000, wich doesn't boot from tape. When i search for boot devices i see my tape drives. When i try to boot from a tape drive then i got the message: search terminated. It seems that the server get more than one keystroke?! I tried another terminal, but with the same result.
What can i do to solve this problem?

Hi Torsten,

How about your keyboard?. It is possible that some key might have short circuited which terminate the search process.

have you changed the keyboard and tried?

Hi,

yes i tried another terminal with the same result. I dont think that both terminals are defective, but i will make another test with a laptop and a terminal program.

See if there is a setting on the terminal that sends a linefeed at the same time as a carriage return. What terminal is it? If it is an HP console terminal ensure the "Modify all" F2 button is off (does not have a star). Go in the ternal configuration screen and check the terminal settings.

check that smooth scroll is not turned on, on the function keys. this sends another signal which terminates the search

thanks for the tips. My terminals are Original Hewlett Packard Model 700/96.

Unfortunately I have during the next days no time for testing.

I will inform later of my results.
