Modem Problem - Can't connect twice without resetting modem.

I have set up a 28.8 modem to my L-1000 server using the "W" cable. After much work I got the modem to work with the server, however, if I try to dial into the modem a second time after disconnecting, the modem just rings until it disconnects. I have found that if I reset the modem in the GSP I can then call into the modem. If I don't reset then I need to wait a few hours before I can call back into the modem. It sound like the server session is not getting the disconnect signal from the modem but I don't really know how to correct that problem. Can anyone help?

Henri

Re: Modem Problem - Can't connect twice without resetting modem.

Did you set a timeout when you invoked getty in your inittab?

Did you use HUPCL in your gettydefs?

Did you set up the modem to have it use its control leads?

What kind of modem are you using?

On our Diamonds we had to set S30=1 which causes them to hangup if the central office switch doesnot tell them to disconnect. If I remember correctly this told them to hang up after 10 seconds of no carrier. Otherwise they would stay up forever.

You can use kermit to talk to the modem and get its command string.

Re: Modem Problem - Can't connect twice without resetting modem.

Did you get this issue resolved? I am having the same problem with an RP5470?
