We have a RP3440 with two internal disks. We want to hook up a Dual Bus MSA30 to a 6402 Raid card in slot 3 and set up Raid 5 on the MSA30 only. Do we need to change the internal cabling to do this? Or should both internal channel cables still remain connected to the rear under the power connectors.

Solution
hi eric,
no need to change internal cabling if its only going to be used externally. If you do your disks wont boot up as you have changed the hardware paths and such like.
Install the card and then attach the MSA with the 2 offset cables that come with the MSA to the external ports on the card.
Before you shut down the server to do the install, install the raid software first, then when it comes back up after the hardware install it will see the card and be ready to use and configure

Re: RP3440 connecting Dual Bus MSA30
Is the raid software the RAID-01 bundle that is installed with HPUX or something else?
