Reconfigure Superdome

hi all,

Currently I have superdome consists of 8 cell board with 4 hard partitions:

part 0: cell 0, 2
part 1: cell 4, 6
part 2: cell 1, 3
part 3: cell 5, 7

partition 3 will be removed and cell 5 will be added to partition 0 and cell 7 will be added to partition 2. is it possible to do this?
the new configuration will be:

part 0: cell 0, 2, 5
part 1: cell 4, 6
part 2: cell 1, 3, 7

BR,

Re: Reconfigure Superdome

What type of superdome do you have?
What HP-UX version?

Re: Reconfigure Superdome

If it's and old pa-risc server, where the 54-diagram applies, the recommended is:

part0: cell 0,1,2
part1: cell 4,5,6

and for the 2 cell is a no win situation so you would have to with the to remaining:

part2: cell 3,7

I have a doubt, does this diagram apply to the new integrity superdomes with the sx2000 chips ??

Windows?, no thanks

Re: Reconfigure Superdome

There are different superdomes, the "legacy", the sx1000 based and the sx2000 based. Some have rules what cells should be in a partition, because of performance, but in general it is possible.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Reconfigure Superdome

Shalom,

This depends on system type and layout.

If you have 2 cabinets, you have a maximum of 4 cells in the cabinet.

In our SD64 superdome here in Toledo, we have a similar setup.

The maximum number of cells in an npar is two, and the maximum number of vpars in an npar is 8.

On this basis, I do not believe your plan will work. I preface that with the fact I've only been working on superdomes for six months and our system may not be the same model as yours.

Re: Reconfigure Superdome

I wonder about your comment SEP, if you have 2 cabinets you can have up to 16 cells, all in a single nPar, if you want.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
