Should all processors in the same nPar be identical?
Guys,
Four Cells in the same nPar in an rp8400 and one(Cell 2) of them failed, after the replacement of the failed Cell, it could not join the partition when it booted. The replacement was bearing 4 A6435-69001 processors, and in the other Cells, A6435-04001. was this differency caused the issue? should all processors in the same nPar be identical?
by the way, how to understand IODC and what role the DIP switch on the Cell plays?

The DIP switches on the cells set the clock speed of the CPU's. So, depending on the processor type, you can actually get away with running higher speed CPU's by under clocking them to match the other cells CPUs (note that you cannot over clock!)
For example:
- Cell 0 is running PA8700 750Mhz. This has a certain DIP switch setting to support this.
- Cell 1 can have PA8700 875Mhz CPU's installed as long as the same DIP switches above are set. The CPU's will run at 675Mhz.
What do you mean by "understanding IODC"?
