Re: booting rp7410

Login prompt.
Username = Admin
PW = Admin
That'll take you to the MP> prompt from which you type CO for console access - partition 0 (zero). Hopefully then you'll be at the BCH> prompt & from there type BO PRI to start the boot from the primary boot disk

Looks a discussion is going on already.

Re: booting rp7410

from MP goto VFP and check whether your cells joined in the partition and check the heartbeat status and look for any error.
if all showing well goto MP>CM>rs to reset the partition after goto VFP for observing the progres. Please post the outputs.

Re: booting rp7410

1 failed fans are not a problem, but 2 failed fans are!

Check the status with "ps" command from MP and also the the system event logs for related messages.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: booting rp7410

My recommendations for rp7410 that got stuck:

-Check event logs
-Power reset as nijoki stated
-disconnect power cable for awhile and re-connect cable and power on server.

Re: booting rp7410

If you are able to boot now ,do check the
output for setboot -v to make sure that the
boot paths are set.

Re: booting rp7410

A couple of things for you here....

From the PS -> T output, there seems to be a a fault logged on IO Chassis 1 (though the output here does not look very good, I may be mistaken).

Run PS -> P and select the IO chassis to view the status.

Also, the PS -> T status is reporting that your system is switched off:

>Power switch: is OFF

Just know that if the system is powered off, the PS outputs will not give us all of the details.

I agree that a single IO Fan failure should not prevent the system from powering on. However, the messages indicate the power switch is going to the off position:

>CABPWR_OFF -------
>PSWITCH_OFF ------

You may have a faulty front panel switch (unless someone is actually pushing the switch).

> From the back panel o found out thar the >Line A0 is present but not working because >if i conect it alone nothing happen on the >server, no lights at all.

Regarding the above: the system requires two AC lines present to power on.

If you like, copy the full output of the event logs:
MP> SL --> E --> D

Copy to a file and attach it on your next post.

Re: booting rp7410

hi,

the server is starting and then shutting down again, due to the errors.

look in the logs for further info and post here if you can

Also I would close the top cover! or at least trip the switch, tape it up or something, if you want to see in the top.

how are you powering the server on? just with the power button or through the MP?

Re: booting rp7410

hi,

it also looks like the fault is with the chassis 1 from your output.

is this why the top is open?

check the status of both chassis in the mp as well, and that the pci psu's in the front have a green light.

Re: booting rp7410

Nelson,

The best way option is open a case with HP.

Looks like there is H/W failure in the box.

It is good that you have got MP access, you can capture all the logs and send it to HP for further analyses and recemnedation to fix the issue.

Re: booting rp7410

Hi all, I'll start again by thanking for the support.

The logs i have are the one i posted because i just can login via MP.

I'm powering the server on just with the power button. But after that it powers off alone.

> it also looks like the fault is with the chassis 1 from your output.
> is this why the top is open?
i don't understand, the server is on the rack with other servers, there is no cover opened just the front panel but i closed after wards. is it that what u are talking about?

INH, how can i open a case with HP?
How can i disable the autotemp that shuts down the serve automatically?

cheers/

Re: booting rp7410

Do you have a support contract?

>How can I disable the autotemp that shuts down the server automatically?

You don't want to do this, you'll fry the server.

Re: booting rp7410

hi,

from your output posted

Power switch: is OFF
Right door: is closed
Top door: is open
Left Door: is closed

if you havent opened the top cover then maybe the interlock switch has failed. The server will not stay powered on properly if the covers are open.

but still check the pci psu leds when you power the server on.

To open a case with HP just call them if you have a support contract?

it might be worth looking in the console logs too, from the mp

hi,

what the interlock switch does, is it the device that is causing the problem? is it replaceable?

> The server will not stay powered on properly if the covers are open.

the only cover i opened is the front one, nothing else.

> but still check the pci psu leds when you power the server on.

I have 2 PCI for Fiber, 1 PCI NIC, 1 PCI for tape drive, all of them are brlinking when the power is ON.

> To open a case with HP just call them if you have a support contract?

I don´t have contract with HP.

> it might be worth looking in the console logs too, from the mp

HDD LEDs are only on as a "busy" indicator, but orange means the power is off again.

Power on the server, wait until it goes off again and capture the MP system logs from this timeframe.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

capture all event logs from MP and attach to the post, this may give better idea on what H/W has failed or isse

MP> SL --> E --> D

Are you able to contact your Hardware support provider? If in case HP, call up to HP support and provide the same logs for thier analyses as well. You need to have support agreemnt / contract for HP support

Re: booting rp7410

Hi all,

I don't know how to post the output of the logs because i running on the console and typing on another machine, there is a way to copy the files to another machine?

Re: booting rp7410

does your MP have an IP assigned ?
if yes connect to it using putty (you can download from net) from your desktop.
then you can capture the output.

If no IP assigned then connect MP to network and assign an IP.

Re: booting rp7410

AnthonySN,

Yes it has an ip, 192.168.1.10 with the same GW 192.168.1.10 but i can't connect to it. My IP is 192.168.1.67 with GW - 192.168.1.7.

But i have a new situation here.

From CO i rebooted the partition and now i'm getting this error:

"The Boot ACtion for this path specifies that PDC stop at BCH."

And the power didn't went down anymore. all LAN and Fiber links at the back a active, the ATTENTION led at fron panel is not orange.

The onlye new things i did was run the MP -> SL-->E-->D and many lines scrolled down on my screen.

how can i findout the right path from booting or the solutions because now at least the power is ON.

reagrds.
