Re: terminal 700/96
1. make sure server is capable of displaying to terminal - it's on and running (not off and hang);
2. make sure you're using native 700/96 cable (I remember it's 9-25 adapter with HP part number and letter 'G' at the end);
3. make sure you're connecting to serial port 1 of terminal, overwise configure terminal to use another port (you can reset it powering it off, pressing and holding 'd' key and then powering it up)

Re: terminal 700/96
Is this terminal the console or is a serial user terminal?.
Is connected to the console port o to a Serial Mux?
Have you checked the speed?
Have you checked with other terminal to the same port?
Regards, Vicente.

Re: terminal 700/96
Is the terminal plugged in, and the power button depressed?
You said the screen is blank. Is it totally blank or is there the function key display at the bottom of the screen? If there is no display whatsoever, and the "menu" key at the top of the keyboard does'nt bring it up, than you either have a power problem, or the terminal is bad.

Re: terminal 700/96
the part number of the cable should be '24542 G'. the Terminal will not communicate correctly without the correct label.

Re: terminal 700/96
anything with the terminal/cable?
(e.g., another server?)
If not, check that BLOCK
mode isn't on.
Also, check that your
serial cable is plugged into
whatever port is the
current "real" serial port
(e.g., Serial 1).
Try going to Setup and
reset the various setup
screens to "default".
