Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

Hi,

It clearly says there was a power supply problem. Server lost the redundant power at that point of time.

Could you check what is the model and how many power supply you have on this server? As per your output, you have two PS and both are normal now. In that case power supply may be disturbed for a while. Check the power cable, power point and power source for both power supplies.

If you are continiously getting the message, then I would suggest you to log a case with HP and ask HP to examine the PS and replace it if faulty.
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

Hi,

rp4440 server has two power supplies. One is must for operational and one is reduntant.

PS output shows both are normal. So I hope you are not getting the error message now. In that case you can ignore the alert. It might have due to some power disturbtion for a while.
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

Hi,

Are you getting the alert daily? Your last event shows it was generated on oct 13th 2008.

You can look into the file /var/adm/resmon/log/event.log to see if still getting the alert or not.

If power supplies are ok and you are getting the alert, then probably you need to restart EMS service.

Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

hi

as the MP ps command O/P shows that you are presently having the Power Supplies OK and also the Fans are working normal, this seems to an intermittent problem that might have talen place long back.

anyway check the /var/opt/resmon/log/evbent.log if there is some recent happenings or repititions.

also can have a looka the MP System Event Logs in the Text Format and see the power failures occurances and hostory and repititions.

IF no repititions found then this sure would been some intermittent power cable disconnection for a while or loose poer cable and can be ignored.

Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

run a

#set_fixed -l

Then next to the down hardware,

#set_fixed -n hardward_path_of_down'd_device

then
#set_fixed -l (to make sure all devices are up within EMS)

Re: Critical Message Repeat in Syslog

>>#set_fixed -l

# set_fixed -L

(note the upper-case L)
Will show ONLY the **DOWN** hardware.

If the command is not in your default $PATH, then do:

# /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/set_fixed -L
