Re: Differnce ISL and IPL

You can look at isl(1M).
A 11.20 document treats them the same:
... the initial program loader (IPL / ISL).

Re: Differnce ISL and IPL

The ISL/IPL is the initial system (program) loader located on a bootable media, booted from boot console handler:

Interact with IPL (Y, N, or Cancel)?> y

Booting...
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 0

HARD Booted.

ISL Revision A.00.43 Apr 12, 2000

ISL>

As you can see the system asked for "IPL", so it is more or less the same.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
