HP9000 rp5430 CPU chip exchange

We are still servicing the old HP9000 rp series servers and there is a problem I cannot solve...

In these servers the CPU chip is not mounted with a socket (like Xeon for ex.) There is a contact pad between the board and the CPU with hundreds of conducting rubber dots.

The problem is that if these pads are old, the rubber dots will stick to the CPU or the board and when you remove the chip, the break. So you need a new contact pad to re-install the CPU.

The problem is where to get these pads?? Any idea?

Chris

Re: HP9000 rp5430 CPU chip exchange

It is part of the cleaning kit: A3639-70001

The A3639-70001 cleaning kit that comes with new CPU sockets contains the following items:
• EMI O-ring (HP p/n 5183-3542)
• IPA pre-moistened, lint free wipes (HP p/n 5012-1138)
• Thermstrate pad (HP p/n A3614-00014)
CPU chip socket with dust cover (HP p/n 1253-0703)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
