Has anyone ever heard of the toc button on an HP server NOT generating a crash dump?
Hi there
We have a legacy system running on an HP K580 HP-UX 11.11 and have had issues with the system suddenly "hanging" sporadically. Sometimes nothing happens for 6 weeks, sometimes it happens two weeks in a row. We can find no pattern.
To troubleshoot the problem, we have attempted to generate a crash dump both by the ctrl-B, tc method and when that has failed by pressing the "toc" button on the server itself. Neither method generates a crash/reboots the system. We have to end up restarting the system manually by turning the key from service to "standby" and then turning it back on.
When the system is up normally, we have been able to generate crash dumps during tests, so we are confident that it can work, but I cannot find anything anywhere discussing a situation where the toc button does not create a crash dump!
Has anybody out there experienced or heard of something like this?
Thanks

(I was going to ask if you have configured crash dumps but it seems you have.)
What do you see when you push the button? Any output on the console?
