the lvlnboot -v o/p is as follows

Boot Definitions for Volume Group /dev/vg00:

lvlnboot: Volume group not activated.

lvlnboot: Volume group not activated.

It is showing my server is booted thru SEAGATE HDD and HP HDD's are being used for VG's other than root VG. I cannot check the system physically so i am not able to understand the actual scenario

Can somebody please help ?

Re: How do i find out my server's hardware configuration ?

Hi,

Your internal disks would appear to be:
SEAGATE ST39173WC 8683 Mb 10/0.13.0 GSC built-in Fast/Wide SCSI Interface
SEAGATE ST39173WC 8683 Mb 10/0.12.0 GSC built-in Fast/Wide SCSI Interface

and from the lvlnboot info, the boot disk is:
Physical Volumes belonging in Root Volume Group:
/dev/dsk/c2t12d0 (10/0.12.0) -- Boot Disk
/dev/dsk/c2t13d0 (10/0.13.0)

It would appear that both of the internal disks are part of VG00, but not necessarily mirrored (as reflected in the lvlnboot info above):
Disk layout

LVM disk Device file HW Addr size vol. grp
SEAGATE ST39173WC /dev/dsk/c2t12d0 10/0.12.0 8683 /dev/vg00
SEAGATE ST39173WC /dev/dsk/c2t13d0 10/0.13.0 8683 /dev/vg00

Re: How do i find out my server's hardware configuration ?

Hi!!

On a K580, generally the boot-disk will be addressed at 6, so it looks as if this is your boot drive, SEAGATE ST34573WC /dev/dsk/c2t6d0 10/0.6.0 4095 /dev/vg00.

You may also check this by typing setboot at the command prompt. Please post that output.

Hope this helps.

Re: How do i find out my server's hardware configuration ?

Hi,

I overlooked C2t6d0, and yes generally ID6 it is the boot disk, but lvlnboot doesn't seem to think so.

dev/dsk/c2t12d0 (10/0.12.0) -- Boot Disk
/dev/dsk/c2t13d0 (10/0.13.0)
/dev/dsk/c2t6d0 (10/0.6.0)
Boot: lvol1 on: /dev/dsk/c2t12d0
Root: lvol3 on: /dev/dsk/c2t12d0
Swap: lvol2 on: /dev/dsk/c2t12d0
Dump: lvol2 on: /dev/dsk/c2t12d0, 0
