Is A6097A this memory module compatilble with RP7400?
Can anyone tell me about it? We added A6097A memory module in RP7400 this sunday. The system seems to be ok now. However, the support enginner of SI and HP advised us to replace the module with A4923A. It's not easy to schedule a system downtime to conduct a maintanence. Did anyone meet a such kind case before?

Re: Is A6097A this memory module compatilble with RP7400?
Hi Steven,
The RP7400 was formally known as the N-Class systems. The hardware architecture of the RP7400 and the RP7410 are not the same.
The A6097A Memory kit is for the RP7410+RP8400.
A6097A 2GB HD SyncDRAM Memory Module for rp7410 & rp8400
For your RP7400 you will need
A5864A 2048MB SyncDRAM Memory Module for N/rp7400
The A4923A is a 1 GB kit.
Hope this helps a bit.

Re: Is A6097A this memory module compatilble with RP7400?
Maybe As per HP Documentation, part numbers are surely different. But the specification of options and accessories (Processors, Memory)for both the servers are very similar.
1. 7400: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00383324&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
2. 7410: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00379641&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
If the server is currently up and running and not reporting any error then leave it.
Don't fix if it's working however if you are not short of budget then stock the compatible memory and replace it on very first chance

Re: Is A6097A this memory module compatilble with RP7400?
Hi Steven,
HP and SI engineers are correct only following product numbers are valid on rp7400 machines ..
256 MB MEMORY SIMM A3763A
512 MB MEMORY SIMM A4923A
1 GB MEMORY SIMM A5864A
1 GB MEMORY SIMM A5864A
A6097A is compatible from RP7410 with FW Version > 5.0 would work, hence you need to get them replaced at the earliest.
Best Regards,
Prashanth
