Is rs3440 server supported?

Can anybody tell me know if HP-rp3440 server will be supported 5 years down the line? OR can somebody suggest a equivalent HP-Server.

Re: Is rs3440 server supported?

Hi Gerard:

Depending on the processor, support may last until December 2014:

The rp3440 is no longer manufactured and replacement strategies are shown here:

Re: Is rs3440 server supported?

what would be an equivalent HP-server for HP9000 based rp3440 Server with 2 dual-core HP PA-RISC PA-8900 processors @ 1.0 GHz with 3 MB L1 cache/64 MB combined L2 cache, which will be supported for atleast 5 years.

Re: Is rs3440 server supported?

All HP9000 risc based servers are obsolete now, but the small rx2660 would be nice.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Is rs3440 server supported?

Hi (again) Gerald:

Equivalency can be seen in the links I posted for you. For instance;

http://h20341.www2.hp.com/integrity/w1/en/entry-class/rx3600-overview.html

Very roughly speaking, Itanium servers running 11.31 see up to 30% performance gains over comparable PA-RISC. Everything is YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). If you want to run un-recompiled PA-RISC code on an Itanium under ARIES you will no doubt not realize all the performance of a natively compiled/ported application. Everything "depends".

Re: Is rs3440 server supported?

Hi Gerald,
While it is correct that all the 9000 servers are EOL'ed, There are many companies that will provide parts and maintance for the 9000 series of servers for many years. Even after 2014.
