L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

I may have a mix of HP and/or Dataram or Kingston in my L2000. I'm running HP-UX 11.11 and I'm starting to get single-bit memory error events emailed to me suggesting replacing DIMM 1a. I have a spare 2GB memory kit so that I can replace 1a and 1b.

I'd like to know if there is any commands I can run or something I can run on the console to tell me a part number and/or mfr of the current memory installed.

Thanks!

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Try cstm against the "system" item and you will get something like this for a single hp dimm:

FRU Source = 7 (memory)
Source Detail = 4 (SIMM or DIMM)
Cabinet Location = 0

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Thanks,
But I'm having trouble finding such information running #cstm -m. I select:

8 MEMORY (95) Information Successful

But can't seem to find the correct menu item to get such information as you indicate. I have to use the menu as I don't have xwindows.

What is the correct command? sorry for the novice-ness here.

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Use this

# echo "sel dev 1;info;wait;il"|cstm

(device 1 is the "system" itself)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Unfortunately, that command yielded nothing regarding memory modules.

The example I) posted was taken from a similar server model.

Please attach your result.

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Your diagnostics version is very old (june 2002), consider an update!

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE

IMHO Either this version is too old or you have only third party DIMMS installed...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

Thanks for the help. I did download and install the latest version, but have the same results. Hence, I'm fairly certain I have kingston or data ram. I wish I knew which mfgr. however.

I'm going to try to replace the DIMM (replacing the pair) tomorrow with Kingston RAM.

Any other ideas to find out memory mfgr? I suppose if it's not HP, it will not display the mfgr. - correct?

Re: L2000. Trying to find out memory manufacturer

I think so ...

Open the box and look at the dimms labels.

;-)

Hope this helps!
