Lan port on RP3440

Is there a port designed for lan console access
on an rp3440? I am referring to the equivalent
of the lan console port (0/0/0) on an rp7400 machine.

Re: Lan port on RP3440

Yes, the rp3440 has a MP too. Look for the port labeled "MP" (just above the "normal" LAN port.

Hope this helps!

Re: Lan port on RP3440

After having a look ... it's the most left LAN port in the "Management Card" area, Lan 10/100.

Hope this helps!

Re: Lan port on RP3440

I hope I havent "mis-asked" the proper question. Where on the rp3440 can I attach the lan console via fiber, to our network switch? I see a slot labelled "LAN gb" in the back of the machine.

Re: Lan port on RP3440

There is no built-in fibre LAN connector - you need a special HBA.

Hope this helps!

Re: Lan port on RP3440

I assume you mean there is no "lan 0" internal card?

Re: Lan port on RP3440

if that is the case, i am thinking is no way to remotely login to the server via MP?

Re: Lan port on RP3440

???

The 0/0/0 lan on the rp7400 is on the Core I/O Module ((MP) the rightmost RJ45). There is also a standard lan port to left. These are both ethernet, not fibre.

On the rp3440 there are two (2) ethernet ports on the back. One is for the internal management lan (MP) and the other is the standard lan port.

The MP port is the remote lan from which you can get to the operating system via the MP command CO.
