Maximum CPUs in N Class?

How many CPUs this model supports ? I have 8 CPUs and 8GB RAM and planning to upgrade memory and CPU?

It seem to me yuo are full up in CPU. No more CPU in N Class.

RAM depends by actually DIMM size.

You can upgrade to a maximum of 32GB of memory but you have reached the maximum number of CPU's. You might be able to upgrade the speed of the CPU's.

I do not know how to check dimm size.

You can get it from boot_admin> (not so useful)


Try to use xstm , select "memory" and RUN INFORMATION on it.

to see the mem currently installed you can use stm;

echo "sel path system\ninfolog\nexit"|cstm

Look for the memory section with FRU Name... should shows DIMM_### and the part number should be listed below that too.

To use the faster 750MHz CPUs you need to have the A3639C version of the N-class, that was offically called the rp7400. Maximum memory requires all four memory carrier boards. Since each memory carrier has roughtly 2GB/sec bandwidth, when you add memory carriers you add memory bandwidth to the system. If you have 8 CPU, the optimal configuration would be to have all four memory carriers. Also, it is optimal to evenly populate the carriers with RAM cards.
I'm sure the hardware manual for the N-class at www.docs.hp.com will have documentation on adding memory.
