No boot devices Found

Hey guys,

we just got a little "Aclass server. I connected a dlt tape drive on it and when I do a sea bo, nothing comes up. Would like to know what I am missing here? I also connected a cdrom on it and it still does not find any bootable devices when doing an sea.

I cant bo pri as there is nothing on the disks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: No boot devices Found

Simply says, searching for bootable devices... Comes back with nothing.

I have tried doing a bo pri to boot from primary disks..I say Y to interact, brings me back to the main menu.. Very strange.

Re: No boot devices Found

What A-class model is it (A400/500 or A180)?

Did you do a "search" only or always a "search boot"?

Where is the tape connected?

W sea bo will only find real boot devices, this means a bootable tape must be in the tape drive, an install CD must be in a CD-ROM drive etc.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: No boot devices Found

Try to capture output and post.

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > in all

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > sea

Hope this helps!

Re: No boot devices Found

hi,

first DLT drives are not normally picked up at pdc as they are not bootable devices.

Also you need to check if the dlt is a single ended scsi drive or a fast wide differential drive? what is the part number of the drive? where is connected too? is it to the on board scsi i/f or an optional card.

same applies to the cdrom drive.

Also you need to check the scsi ID's of the scsi devices, make sure they are different, but not 7.

double check the cables at both eds for bent pins as well and proper termination.

The disks should be on a diferent controller to the rear I seem to remember, do you have any disks installed in the front of the server?
