RP7440 Disk issue

I am having issues with the 2nd internal disk on partition 0 of a rp7440. The system recognizes the disk but can not write to it. The disk has been replaced with a known working disk. And the controller card has also been replaced.

When trying to create a physical volume the command just hangs indefinitely. Also, preforming a read/write exercise through stm just puts the disk into a hung state. Any ideas from anyone?

Thanks

Re: RP7440 Disk issue

Sounds like you still have a hardware issue.

What actual disk are you referring to (upper left, etc) and what controller was replaced? The internal drive bays are controlled by more than one controller is why I ask.

Re: RP7440 Disk issue

Where did the working disk come from? Check that the sector size is correct:

# diskinfo /dev/rdsk/c7t11d0
SCSI describe of /dev/rdsk/c7t11d0:
vendor: HP 73.4G
product id: ST373405FC
type: direct access
size: 71687369 Kbytes
bytes per sector: 512

If it says 520 then you'll need to reformat the disk with JBODfmt.

Re: RP7440 Disk issue

Forgot to post an update to the situation.

It turns out that there was a bent pin on the internal SCSI cable that goes from the drive backplane to the PCI controller(AB290A). Pin was straightened and everything is fine now. Thank you for your replies.
