System serial number

After restoring from a ignite golden image, The OS doesn't shows the system serial number:

[root@u] /root > print_manifest|grep -i serial
tty 0/0/0/0/1 asio0 PCI Serial (103c1048)

System Name................:
HPUX Model Number..........:
HPUX Model String..........: 9000/800/rp8420
Original Product Number....:
Current Product Number.....:
System Serial Number.......:

[root@u] /root/sysinfo204 > getconf MACHINE_SERIAL

Is there any other way to have the serial number?

Try this,

echo "selclass qualifier system;info:wait;infolog"|cstm| grep "System Serial"

hi,

it looks like that the details have not been set on the system at PDC level or in the MP. HPUX just pulls the info from the firmware on the system.

login to the MP and run the id command, what does this display?

if its not set here, then you may be able to enter it, but it may remember a password from HP to modify it too

Thanks for the quick response Andrew,you're right it isn't shown there either, is it possible to reset the password from the MP?

hi,

if it is asking for a password to change it/add the details then, you will have to call HP. They have a utility only available to them, to work out the password as it is generated from the software id and server model number and such like.

It should have been set when built, but have seen servers before that have needed it setting? if its on support hp will just do it, if not it may be chargable.
