Upgrade RP3410, RP3440, RP4440 to Itanium
Please tell me whether we can upgrade the PA RISC servers RP3410, RP3440 and RP4440 to Itanium cell boards. Please tell me whether these servers support the upgrade.
Thanks in advance.
Regards

Re: Upgrade RP3410, RP3440, RP4440 to Itanium
The rp4440 can be upgraded to rx4640 (if still available).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

in your case i would buy a new server and transfer the CPU license.

The problem with either solution is that you will have to reload HP-UX after the upgrade, so it may be more effective to purchase a new server in order to avoid lengthy downtime.

Re: Upgrade RP3410, RP3440, RP4440 to Itanium
The problem with this is that the system board may not have the correct firmware settings installed, such as the model string and prod/serial number. Once the CPU is swapped over the system may not get past BCH due to this and then HP would be needed to program the values.
Just my 2c from past experience.
