can't open cdrom after ILO firmware upgrade

Hi,

I have some small problems with my rp3440s. After I put the CD and updated the firmware of my management cards ( and reseted it a few time ) The CDROM device won't open. the drive is not mounted on hp-ux, pfs_mountd and pfsd are not started.

Why are you even thinking using pfs_mountd and pfsd?

For the pfs_mountd it's because I want just want to make sure that's not because the drive is mounted or locked by the OS

I was suggesting you remove that demon from the system as causing other problems. ;-)

I've had this happen for no apparent reason on pa-risc and itanium systems and it required a patch upgrade to sort it.

Consider this can be a pure mechanical problem. Carefully pull the drive and inspect it. Sometimes the top cover press too much on the drive, hence it cannot open.

A patch upgrade ? Do you know which patch it is ? A ILO firmware upgrade ? Or a 11iv1 upgrade ?


For the mechanical malfunction, the device light stay off when I push the button... So I doubt it's the problem. It look like it's mounted of some sort.

Have you tried to operate the drive outside OS OE?

Just to check you should shutdown the OS and try, just to ensure it is not a mounting issue.

For the shutdown, that won't be easy, most of the server are on production.
