Re: how to restart one of the vpar

vPar is a virtual (software-based) partition.

If you can login to the partition you wish to restart, use "shutdown -r" just like in a normal (non-partitioned) system.

If your target vPar is already down or hung, log into another vPar in the same host or hardware partition (nPar). From there, you can use "vparstatus" to check the status of all the vPars within the host/nPar, and use commands like "vparreset" and "vparboot" to reset/startup the other vPar.

If all the vPars in your host/nPar are down, access the console and make sure the vPar monitor is running: if it is, you'll see the MON> prompt on the console. You can use the MON> prompt to start vPars too.

If the vPar monitor is not running, the entire host/nPar has apparently rebooted and failed to start the vPar monitor automatically. Find out why, and fix it if necessary.
