memory in 9000/d220

I have these 2 old 9000/D220 systems which I want to combine into 1.
So I took out the 2x64MB RAM from one and put it into the other hoping to get a total of 256 MB. But alas, the system is reporting only 128 MB.
I tried several banks to put the extra memory in.
Any ideas ?

The slots are numbered and should be used in order - you can't just pick a slot at random. The largest SIMMs should go in the lowest numbered slots (but it sounds like yours are all the same).

On the D boxes, the slots are numbered. But they are not in order. You should have slots like 0A, 0B, 1A, 1B, etc. You need to file the slots in order, and in pairs. 0A and 0B first, then 1A and 1B and so on.

Sometimes the numbers are hard to see, but they are there.

echo what Pete said.

Here's a good document for you:

Hi Derko
If you have had the door off to get to the memory, on the inside of the door is a picture of the CPU boards and the positions for the memory i.e 0a/b 1a/b etc.
cheers

They have to go in as pairs, and that diagram in the document or on the panel should be helpful in getting the memory recognized.

You need to be sure that all the memory being added is good.

OK, it was on the inside of the door. Overlooked it completetly being so eager to upgrade this machine.

Thanks,
