Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

Hi,

when I got my first rp34xx a few years ago, there was no support for a graphics card, when running under HP-UX.
I doubt, if that has changed in the meanwhile.

Shalom,

Visit the server documentation at http://docs.hp.com and http://partsurfer.hp.com and find a supported video card.

Just because HP sold the thing does not mean it works with HP-UX. Only certified cards will work. HP-UX has maintained the best reliability of any Unix through many means. One of those means is to limit the universe of hardware support.

Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

hi,

this simply wont work.

the only option for the rp3410 was to buy a graphics card/usb kit from hp A6150B part number. this gae you a graphics card and 2 usb ports for k/b and mouse and uses 2 pci slots.

Standard graphics cards, made by hp or not will not work

Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

hi

we buy this card (AH391A)
http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/misc/graphics/specifications/AH391A/specs.html

On this page says what this card suppurted by HP-UX 11v2 and 11v3. But I must install HP-UX 11.11 because of my NMS needs this version.

Is it posible to install this videocard (AH391A - AMD Radeon 7000) on that server (rp3410) with HP-UX 11.11 ?

Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

hi,

right ok, so you have the AH391A card. this needs to be in either slot 1 or 2 on the rp3410

well may or may not, not according to the support info and manual. It seems the xserver patches may not be up to date for this card.

however, its worth a try. first make sure the patches are upto date and at the latest. check if thes eare installed

http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=PHSS_34392&sel={hpux:11.11,}&BC=main|search|

http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=PHCO_36562&sel={hpux:11.11,}&BC=main|search|

then check if the gvid driver is actually in the running kernal, if not add it

here's the manual

start reading at page 21

http://docs.hp.com/en/AH391-9000A/AH391-9000A.pdf

let us know how you get on

Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

Thanks Andy,

I will try do it.

In this document: http://docs.hp.com/en/AH391-9000A/AH391-9000A.pdf

Say that for determine if the gvid module is configured into your system's kernel,I must use the kcmodule command, but as I understend this command only for HP-UX from 11v2 11v3.

What command I must use in HP-UX 11.11? With what parameters?

Thanks

Re: problem with install videocard on rp3410

hi,

yes kcmodule is for v2/3

just use sam/selectable drivers to enable the gvid drivers

and reboot the system.

as i said may or may not work
