Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

Shalom,

It would appear either your boot disk or CPU has failed.

Connect to the GSP card on the system by whatever means you have set it up, console ctrl-b, network, whatever.

Read the logs and look of HPMC, High priority machine check messages.

This is probably going to require a Hardware Support visit unless you do such work yourself.

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

Your PDH firmware has a problem. Either it got corrupt or some devices it needs to initialize is no longer there and it is crying out telling you it is not finding the device(s)

Unless you are doing the hardware support yourself, it is time to call your hardware support company. They had better bring a new mainboard for you.

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

Hi

Your GSP Log SOURCE: 3 = PDH tells a Faulty system board.

0x000030F032001560 - Event 1560
PDC detected an error while trying to determine a part number for the FRUID

Look to the chassis logs and their cause-action statements for the chassis logs sent prior to this one. They will indicate exactly what the failure was. The chassis logs following this one will indicate whether the cell will be halted or CPU deconfigured.

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

did you try booting from the mirrored boot-disk.

soemtimes the WRONG boot path in the mirrorred disk also causes this sort of problems.

set this going into MP or GSP ( PA - path flags).

is your network ok. check lights on the NIC on the back of the server.

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

We don't have HP support for this server, unfortunately, so I need to solve the problem by myself...
SS showed me this information:

System Processor Status:
Monarch Processor: 3

Processor 0 is : Installed and NOT CONFIGURED
Processor 1 is : Not Installed
Processor 2 is : Not Installed
Processor 3 is : Installed and Configured

How can I fix it?

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

The first CPU must be cpu# 0. You need to find out why cpu 0 is not configured and activate or replace this CPU.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

I set Proc0 to socket 3 and Proc3 to socket 0.
Now server gives another error code (with the same head rows):
0x580038F032001560 00004705 10162D0B - type 11 = Timestamp 06/16/1971 22:45:11

May I reset the ROM by some actions, like on workstations?

And now the same problem - after a couple of minuts:
Processor 0 is : installed and NOT CONFIGURED

Re: rp5400 PA-RISC boot failure

Try to enable and reboot:

Configuration Menu: Enter command > cpu 0 on

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
