Oracle 11G R2 whith ASM and HP-UX 11.3

Hi; I have a big question. I need the configuration 3 server Blade Integrity whith HP-UX 11.3 and the DBA want that the disks will be raw device. How I must configure ASM over raw LUN whith multipath access for de LUN and keep the 4 path (like PVLINK, EVA4400) the lun have the folowing device file /dev/rdsk/c0t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d2 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d3 /dev/dsk/c0t0d4. The information I drive is that the ASM not suport more the one device access for LUN.

ASM whitout Shared LVM (SLVM)
ASM whitout SGeRac
Only ASM whit raw device.

someone know how to make that?

There is no "HP-UX 11.3". I guess you mean HP-UX 11.31 (also known as 11i v3), right?

HP-UX 11.31 has native multipathing. To use it, you should use the new-style /dev/disk/disk* and /dev/rdisk/disk* names for the disk devices, instead of the legacy /dev/dsk/c*t*d* and /dev/rdsk/c*t*d*.

First, verify that you have the HP-UX 11.31's native multipathing working correctly: run e.g. "ioscan -m dsf" or "ioscan -m hwpath" to verify that all the paths to each LUN are associated with the same agile addressing hardware path.

Then, simply set the ASM's ASM_DISKSTRING parameter to value "/dev/rdisk/*", to make ASM look for /dev/rdisk devices only.

It is not clear from your post, it is a clustered environment or not:
1-)Do you want to install oracle RAC?If yes then you should do it without serviceguard.You can use ASM with raw device, and ASM over LVM.

2-)Do you want to install Serviceguard?If yes serviceguard and SGeRAC does not support Oracle 11G R2 RAC yet. Check the support matrix:

check with ioscan -m dsf

you will see the disks like
/dev/rdisk/diskxxx

At 11.31 it is already multipathing with using disk aliases.

Thank for you helps, I now undertand how i must to see the HDD for raw device for configurate the ASM whitout SLVM.

#ioscan -m dsf
