HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
It's a brand new hw, and the first of its kind to be installed in my country.
I could not find a list of kernel parameters for this kind of server and for the related HP-UX version (HP-UX 11v3 for Itanium).
In detail I need a table, a document that describe, parameter by parameter:
Min parameter value
Max parameter value
Default parameter value
and possibily also relations with other kernel parameters.
Thanks for your attention and help

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
Start by asking the server:
# kctune -v
You will find more tunables information in section-5 of the manpages.
Regards!

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Integrity and Oracle
I would suggest you start with similar values from your other 11.31 servers. Also look to suggestions by Oracle.
>I need a table, a document that describe, parameter by parameter:
The ranges and defaults are provided by kctune(1m) with -v.

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
This server is like every other and the installation doesn't differs from the rest.
For installation of Oracle RDBMS you should follow the installation guide.
Oracle├В┬о Database Installation Guide
11g Release 2 (11.2) for HP-UX:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e10851/toc.htm
Oracle├В┬о Database Installation Guide
10g Release 2 (10.2) for hp-ux Itanium:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b25293/toc.htm
Also keep in mind that in 11.31 some of the kernel parameters are obsolete or auto-tunable.
Regards,
Sve

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
I definitely need a table with min,max and default vaules that HP reccomends for that SPECIFIC version of HP-UX, so I can follow the best practice by HP.
Can anyone indicate me a official HP UX doc?
Thanks again

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
Usually in 90% if the installations these parameters works out and doesn't need fine tuning.
Anyway, what I don't like of the Oracle documentation is that they don't say what exactly these parameters do. But I have never crashed server because of the documentation.
I've attached document from HP regarding kernel configuration of Oracle.
Also keep in mind that in bl890c i2 the NUMA is is per socket, not per cell like it was in the mid range and high end servers.
Hope it helps.

Sve

Re: HP UX 11.31 for Itanium and Oracle
/opt/tuneserver/bin/tuneserver -v
and it will show you the tuneables that need to be changed.
