console에서 system을 shutdown 시켜야 할 경우가 발생했을 때..

예를 들어 SYSTEM hang..



st 로 죽이는 것과

rs 로 죽이는 것 두개가 있다고 들었습니다.



두개의 차이점이 무엇인가요?

TC(Trasfer od Control)의 약자로 강제로 덤프를 뜨게 만듭니다.

RS(ReSet)은 단순히 전원 버튼을 off/on하는것입니다.



시스템이 hang 걸렸을때, 원인을 분석하고 싶다면, TC를 이용해 dump를 수행합니다. 이를 토대로 장애원인을 분석할 수 있습니다.



만일 원인도 필요없고, 시스템을 복구시키는것이 우선이라면 RS를 사용하시면 됩니다.



dump뜨는 시간은 메모리의 용량과 밀접한 관계가 있습니다. 메모리가 크면 클수록 시간이 오래 걸립니다.

crash dump 내용과 ts99의 내용이 같지는 않습니다.



crash dump의 내용은 당시 memory에 있던것을 dump 하는것이구요.

ts99 file은 ems나 mstm에서 진단되어지는 tool로 그 결과 값만 나오는것이므로 같지 않습니다.

ts99 file을 가지고 application 을 debug할순 없습니다.



반드시 GSP> tc한다고 해서 dump을 발생시키는 것은 아니므로 참조하시기 바랍니다.

RS : Reset System through RST signal

말그대로 RST signal을 통하여 단지 system을 reset하는 경우입니다.



crash dump file이 생기면 q4 나 기타 debug를 사용하여 그당시에 memory에 상주했던 내용을 발견할수있습니다.

1.그렇다면 crash dump의 내용과 ts99의 내용이 같다고 보면 될까요??



2. tc로 죽이면 reboot될때 dump를 받으니까 시간이 오래 걸리나요??

얼마나 걸리죠??



3. rs로 죽이면 dump가 왜 안 생기죠??





4. 그리고 memory dump를 받으면 그 상태에 memory에 있는

모든 내용이 dump로 내려오는 거니까..

혹 이상한 application이 있다면 발견 할 수 있지 않나요??

시스템에 구지 문제가 없는데 toc 로 메모리 dump를 받으실 필요가 없습니다.

시스템 hang은 어플리케이션 때문에도 많이 발생을 하니깐요



혹 시스템 문제가 있을 시에도 dump가 아니라도 하드웨어 문제가 무엇인지 알수잇기 때문에(ts99) 필요없을듯합니다.



특별한 목적에 의해서만 하면 될 것 같습니다.

왜 rs로 shutdown 시키는 것이 일반적인 방법인지...

st 란 명령어는 shared tape device 의 상태를 체크하기 위해 command-line 인터페이스를 유저들에게 제공해주는 명령어입니다.



혹시 질문에 오타가 나신것이 아니신지.....^^;



시스템 hang 이 되면..



gsp 에서 rs 로 reset 하시는 것이 흔이 사용하는 방법입니다.

GSP > mode에서 사용하는 명령어를 물어 보신것인가요.



일반적으로 system이 hang되었을경우



console에서 control+B key를 치면 GSP > 에서 rs command을 사용할수 있는데 이것은 system을 reset하는 경우입니다.



보통 system hang의 원인을 알려고 tc (Reset via Transfer of Control)을 사용하는 경우가 있습니다.



dump를 받을경우지요.



하지만 st는 무엇인지 모르겠네요.

This command causes the system to be reset through the INIT (or TOC) signal.



Execution of this command irrecoverably halts all system processing and

I/O activity and restarts the computer system. It is different from the

RS command in that the processors are signaled to dump state on the way

down.
