dtc48 INSTALL ON A-500

I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO INSTALL A DTC 48 P/N 2345A
ON A NEW 3000 A-500 SO THAT THEY CAN USE SOME OLDER SERIAL 2564 LINE PRINTERS.

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE BEEN THROUGH THIS PROCESS AND HAVE INSTRUCTIONS THAT THEY CAN SHARE WITH ME?

Hello Tom,

Adding a DTC is not difficult. You can learn about NMMGR here:

http://www.docs.hp.com/mpeix/onlinedocs/32022-90054/32022-90054.html

And you can learn about adding and configuring a DTC here:

http://www.docs.hp.com/mpeix/onlinedocs/32022-90051/32022-90051.html

Basically, you give the DTC a nodename and then a "domain.organization" that matches your host's "domain.organization," enter the LAN Station address (MAC address), assign a LDEV number and profile name to a DTC port, and then validate "DTS/Link". The 256x printers should be connected to a DTC port that uses a "TT22" term-type (in the profile) for a direct-connect printer, or "TT26" for a modem or mux-connected printer.

Another option is: obtain a centronics port for the printer (replace the serial port), connect an external JetDirect, and configure as a network printer as described in chapter 3 of the Native Mode Spooler Manual:

http://www.docs.hp.com/mpeix/onlinedocs/32650-90867/32650-90867.html

A problem well defined is half solved.
