3PAR 8200 cMLC vs MLC SSD

I'm sizing a 3PAR 8200 solution for our customer. Using HP official NinjaSTARS tool, and changing only SSD there is a there is a remarkable change of global IOPS performance.

 

The storage is configured as following:

6x 24 bays 2.5" enclosure (ctrl + 5 exp)

48x 1.2TB SAS HDD

24x 2TB NL HDD

8x 480GB SSD

 

Using cMLC SSD IOPS are 107.000,  when with MLC are 131.000

AFAIK, the only difference between cMLC and MLC are the write sustainable by the disk.

 

Does anyone can explain this ?
