3PAR P7400 storage model (Not P7450, P7000, Only 7400) technology

Hello.

I have  some technical question for  HP 3PAR P7400 Storage Model. ( NOT  P7450 .  NOT P7000 Series.  Only P7400 !! )

Currently  , Can  it  Support  some  kind of storage technology below in SAN environment  ?

Thank you for your Support.

-  Data Deduplication

-  Storage Cache Extend by using SSD  (Solid State Disk)

( Cache extended by SSD positioned between the storage processor’s DRAM-based primary cache and HDD. frequently accessed data automatically  move to Cache extended by SSD

, which are faster than HDD, therefore boosting system performance. )

- CDP( Continuous Data Protection . Enabling a DVR-Like  point-in-time recovery of data. so It can support  a zero RPO  in Physical and Logical  data corruption or System Failure )

Hi

Unfortunately dedupe is currently only available on the 7450 all flash array and not any other models in the range.   Extending cache with SSD is also not currently available, although there were some rumours published on The Register a couple of weeks ago that it may be coming:  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/06/18/las_vegas_3par/

Some HP Discover talks about Dedup:

Let me add some color to the answers you already received:

  • We announced deduplication for the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 at HP Discover.  It isn't available yet but when it is, it will be done via an upgrade to the 3PAR OS.
  • At HP Discover, we also discussed that we're using the same ASIC in the 7450 that is in the 7400, 7200, 10800, and 10400.  I'll let you read the tea-leaves.
  • There is a TON of content on my blog about what we've announced at HP Discover and 3PAR.  And in fact the HP 3PAR product management team has been blogging every Thursday in a series I call "3PAR Thursday" so check out those blog posts.
  • Yes, you can do point in time copies for zero RPO recovery.  To the best of my knowledge, this is something that no other all-flash array can do.
  • We don't have Cache via SSD yet - but stay tuned.
