Hello, I have tried to get Smart SAN working, but somehow it doens't work.
I have the following:
HPE 3PAR 8200 (latest firmware, latest ssmc, accordingly to SPOCK)
HPE SN3000B (8.10b) planning to upgrade to v8.0.2c
I have the Smart SAN licensed on my 3PAR, I also executed the command to enable Smart SAN on my HPE SN3000B Switches. I have certified Qlogic 16GB HBA's on my Windows 2016 NANO servers.
When I check my FC Switches, it says that it has Smart SAN 1.0 enabled (how can I upgrade it to Smart SAN 2.0?)
I try to make TDPZ Zones in SSMC, but no zones are created. I can create a host and choose FC. Then I can select the WWN numbers from the specific host.
Do I need to use CLI commands for our FC switches to create the zones? What am I doing wrong? We are runnig Windows 2016 NANO server. When I check my 3PAR ssmc, I can choose "Windows Server 2016" so it is supported, right?
Solved! Go to Solution.

What exact version? showversion -b
> Do I need to use CLI commands for our FC switches to create the zones?
I would recommend doing that.
What ports are connected to your fabric?
showport
What switches are connected?
showportdev fcswitch <N:S:P> # a port connected to the fabric.
showportdev fcfabric <N:S:P> # list of WWNs connected.
There are other showportdev subcommands for Smart San zoning.

Re: 3PAR Smart SAN (can't get it to work)
Ok, you have two switches: FC-SWITCH1 & FC-SWITCH2
Which ports on the two switches are connected to your hosts? I see 7 ports in use on both.
Or course some of those ports are connecting to the array.

Re: 3PAR Smart SAN (can't get it to work)
Hi,
Port 0 & 1 are the 3par array.
Ports 2 till 6 are all Hosts (nano servers)
The hosts (Windows NANO serveras) all begin with 5001... as WWN numbers.

So this shows all of the possible connections and you now need to zone them?

Re: 3PAR Smart SAN (can't get it to work)
Ok, so this is what I did:
I executed the following command on the 3PAR CLI:
createhost -port 0:0:1,0:0:2,1:0:1,1:0:2 SERVERNAME 5001***************** 5001******************
I see now that a new Host is been created on the SSMC, I also see that new Zones are auto created on the switches!
In SSMC under Hosts I opened the Map and see a diagram where there are 4 connections to the new created host.
Is this how Smart San works?
