Hi EveryOne,
After reading many document of 3PAR thin technologies and 3par architecture, one thing is still not clear for me. What is 3PAR zero detection, Is this actually happens or more efficient when data move from non 3par storage to 3par or with in 3par ?
How it is happeneing with in 3par, if an environemnt with 3par and virtual machine,if I delete a virtual machine, why the space is not allocating back to CPG without a manual command "tune vv".
Or all the thin technologies, like deduplication/zero detection are applicable only for Thin volumes or is it applicable for thick volumes as well.
Appreciate experts comments ..

>What is 3PAR zero detection
When you write a 16K page of zeros, it is detected by the ASIC.
>if I delete a virtual machine, why the space is not allocating back to CPG?
If you delete a VV, the storage should go back to the CPG. Perhaps you need to use compactcpg?
>deduplication/zero detection are applicable only for Thin volumes
Yes, thin only.

Re: HPE 3PAR zero detection
So , this mean , 3par reads in 16kiB pages. if the asic found a page with 16kiB , only then it will mark as complete zero right ?
