3Par failure to rebalance - “Physical Disk 6 is degraded due to repeated failures relocating ....

Hi,

We have an HPE 3Par 7400 with 4 nodes. We are trying to replace some failed drives, but the rebalance is failing with an error:-

Physical Disk 6 is degraded due to repeated failures relocating chunklet: pd6 ch333 ....

Would really appreciate it if anyone has a suggestion on how to get around this?

The first thing we need to do is check is why PD 6 is degraded and whether chunklets are getting relocated or stuck.

If stuck, we can use # movech command to manually move those chunklets and vacate the drive and run servicemag start and replace it. once replaced we can run servicemag resume

Hello,

You need to forcefully more the chunklets. Below is the command.

movech -perm <fd:fp-td:tp>

Example:
The following moves the chunklet in position 0 on disk 24, to position 50 on disk 64
movech -perm 24:0-64:50

If you still face issues, you can use the command
movech -perm -ovrd <fd:fp-td:tp>

Let me know how it goes. Feel free to report if the issue still exists.
