3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
I have 3par 8200 storage ,The SP v4X virtual machine is not acccessable (web or putty only direct console is running) that happened after I moved the VM from a host to another .
An error appear at start of the vm "eth0 seem to be not presented" , I assum the issue regarding the mac address of this VM is still from the old host and does not changed in the network configuration file ,
My question how to solve that , how to intially login to the redhat SP machine and edit the network configuration file , or if some one help me with SP v4 ISO to install a fress SP VM with small doc provide config steps. or any other option to solver that
Many Thanks

Re: 3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
Hi Owahid,
What is the 3PAR OS version? What is the exact version of SP (in v4.x series) are you looking for?

Re: 3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
Moving the vSP from one host to another is not supported and will not work - as you can see.
Consider to just re-deploy the vSP - done in probably 20 minutes.
However, both versions (SP and 3PAR) are old and meanwhile unsupported.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
SP OS v4.4 GA53 is MU2.
Better use 4.4.MU9.
There is a special version for VMWare hosts.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
Hi,
how ever, you can give this a try:
Set the VM to a fixed MAC Address, than Power Up.
root
uuidgen eth0
cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
vi ifcfg-eth0
UUID="kkkkk-xxxxx-xxx-xxxxx"
(ctrl-c) ESC > :wq
change MAC
ifconfig eth0
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 hw ether MAC_Adress
ifconfig eth0 up
This worked for me.
Cali

That was not planned in this way.

Re: 3par Service processor SP4- Not accessible
The problem might be: How to be root?
However, re-deploy of the vSP should take less than 30 minutes.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
