CE's replaced failed disk last week. Now "showpd" doesn't show disk at all !

Has this happened to anybody else?  We assumed that the PD was rebuilding or something, but it's been a week.  Do we have to do anything?  Did our CE make a mistake?  BTW, this has happened TWICE, once on one array, once on another array.

These Arrays are HP 3PARs.

The replaced drive will have a different PD Id. So if you are looking for the original PD ID you will not see it.

Can you confirm if you can see any other PD in the same location as the failed PD?

If a disk has been replaced, let's say PDID 99, the replacement disk will get the next available PDID, let's say 199.

Same will happen when the next disk will be replaced, but then the next free ID will be 99 again.

After all data is restored to the new disk, the system will do a "dismisspd", so the old PDID will disappear.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

You are absolutely correct.  Both of you.  We found the disks (PDs) with different PD-IDs.  Who would have thought!

If you do a "showpd -i" you can match up the WWN with the drive labels.
