SolutionShort answer?
No.
If a Virtual Volume (VV) is created thin, it will only use what storage is requested, so if the operating system only creates a partition of 1 TB, that is all that will be consumed.
However, the virtual size of a VV can only be increased, up to the 16 TB limit.
If they need a smaller virtual size, they will need to
- create a 1TB VV
- present that to the host in question
- stop applications to the 3TB LUN
- use the OS to transfer all files
- unpresent both VVs
- present the 1TB VV using the original 3TB volume's LUN assignment (<- edited for clarity)
- start the applications back up.

Re: Can I decrease the size of a Virtual Volume
Hi ,
what do you mean in step 6 : present the 1TB VV using the original 3TB's volumes assignment ?

Re: Can I decrease the size of a Virtual Volume
It would depend on the operating system and applications, but reuse the original LUN numbers, and original drive letters and/or mount points.
