All:
We had a power failure in a plant computer room over the weekend. The entire room, HP 3PAR, servers, network, everything rebooted. When the HP 3PAR came back up it put one of hte RCIP Groups into "Failsafe Mode", which means that it removes the exports from the VLUNs, and the server can't see the storage. Oracle crashed.
The RCIP Software User's Guide says that Failsafe Mode occurs when the RCIP Link goes down and the parameter "auto_failover" is set on the RCIP Group, which we didn't do; or when the primary and secondary VVs have the same VV_WWN, which at InForm 3.1.2 they all do.
The question is: Why did the RCIP Groups go into Failsafe Mode, when we had not selected "auto_failover"?

Re: HP 3PAR RCIP Failsafe Mode ?
Hi there Stuart,
We ran into the same issue over the weekend, while doing a firmware upgrade from 3.1.3 MU1 to 3.2.1 EMU3. At some point after stopping the replication as part of the upgrade process, the RCIP power went down, and then the RC Groups changed from "stopped" to "failsafe". The customer later discovered that the ports in the router were disabled, however the were enabled once again after we overrode the RC groups.
We have asked HP Support to have the InSplore for both arrays analyzed. Let's see what they find.
Cheers,
Ozzie
