I see space used by snapshot but.
Hi all
I got a question, i need to know if the space that is used to snapshot could i reclaim in the 3par ?
I´ll explain my situation, i see some space used to snapshot but i really don´t know why exist this, because i don´t have any virtual copy create in the 3par so i don´t know what happen with this space.
All the volumenes are type Base, some are full and others are thin.
i share you my volumenes:

What does "showvv -r" show for SNP space?
Are you using dedup? What HPE 3PAR OS version?
You could also try compactcpg.

Re: I see space used by snapshot but.
To free snap space there are a couple of different commands.
updatesnapspace vvname
freespace vvname
updatesnapspace will update the snapshot space usage.
freespace will free any snapshot administration and snapshot data space for a Virtual Volume as long as there is not any snaps currenty with the vv.

Re: I see space used by snapshot but.
Hello
We need to first understand what is the actual sapce usage showing. If you had Snaps in the Past and deleted, still this can show under reserved space. IF that is the case, you can use freespace <Parent VVname> and compactcpg to return the space back to Disks.
However, to understand the actual scenario, we need to cehck the Insplore Log from 3par and then provide suggestion.
Thanks!
