Hi Experts,
I need your suggestions, how i can reclaim free space on CPG's [FC,SSD] .
3par storage 8440, vcenter 5.5, 6.0
Do we have a new document related reclaim free space? i've read many posts on this community but most of them are old as technology changed [by version :P] are we still using sdelete on windows and UNMAP on vmware -in order to reclaim free space.
Please share your thoughts.
many thanks
dpx

SolutionHave a look at these documents, they give you detailed information on reclaiming space for VMware (look for keyword "unmap")
http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03290624
http://h20195.www2.hpe.com/V2/getpdf.aspx/4AA4-3286ENW.pdf
https://www.hpe.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA3-8987ENW.pdf
For physical Windows 2008 hosts, you can give this a try:
http://www.antemeta.fr/en/Reclaim-Tool
and if you move to 6.5 in the future, the unmap can be automatic!

Re: Reclaim free space on 3par
and on a separate topic, if your 3PAR is calling home (and under support) to HPE, you can also use https://www.storefrontremote.com to get analytics of your 3PAR, along with some recommendations and alerts (if any).
