Regarding HPE 3PAR Simulator

Hi,

I've successfully installed HPE 3PAR Simulator, but have question related to providing virtual volumes to virtual machines located on VMWare. Is it even possible and if yes, what needs to be configured on VM (like add some hardware, etc.) and on OS side?

The case is that I want to play not only with 3PAR itself, but do some tests on virtual machines too. If HPE 3PAR Simulator is not the right tool in my case, maybe you can suggest something else?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Regarding HPE 3PAR Simulator

Hi Modas,

HPE 3PAR Simulator doesn't support general hosts or VMs. But you can create a host (VM) in the same Vmware workstation and connect through virtual FC ports (iSCSI is not supported, only FC ports are supported) and export the volume.

Re: Regarding HPE 3PAR Simulator

Hi,

on my home lab I'm using just VMWare ESXI and have configured Fibre channel NPIV (see WWN and WWP addresses). Should it work also on VMWare ESXI environment, or is it working on VMWare Workstation only?

Re: Regarding HPE 3PAR Simulator

Hi Modas,

I did it in VMware workstation. As ESXi is also equally compatible, it should work as well I guess.
