Hello the experts, I'm facing a situation where I must remove some SSD that are never been used (from a CPG perspective).
CPG do not accept drive bigger than 1,9 TB : "setcpg -t r6 -ha mag -ssz 12 -p -devtype SSD -rpm 100 -p -tc_lt 1900 -devtype SSD CPG_R6_12" so I'm sure that there is no production data on the drives that I must remove physically from the array.
An HPE consultant provide me the following tips to remove safely the drive :
- showpd to get the id of the concerned drive
- removespare -f "PD-ID" :a
- dismisspd "PD-ID"
Do you have some other tips to advise or it sounds good ?

Hi Philippe,
If you consider to continue to use the SSDs in the same system:
You can re-arrange the SSD positions in the cages. Create a new CPG using only those SSDs.
New CPG can be used to create new volumes or move any existing volumes to the new CPG (tune VV) or the new CPG can be used as a part of Adaptive Optimization.
If you must remove those SSDs:
You can enter this command to more precisely filter and get PD ids of concerned SSD 'showpd -p -cg m,n -devtype SSD' (where m and n are the cage numbers where the concerned SSDs are seated). Then you can continue with removespare and dismisspd commands as advised by the HPE consultant.

SolutionHi Philippe,
As the drives are not part of any CPGs yet and don't have data on them, the 'removespare' and 'dissmispd' commands have almost immediate effect (not more than some seconds).
