Un allocate space back to Free
Hello,
I would like to know if it's posible to un allocate space back to Free. We have an CPG with some VV's. Data has been deleted on the VV's, and Reserved User Size has been reduced. Now we want to un allocate the chunklets, so it space will be incremented to "Storage Systems / <Systemname> / <ClassType> / Free. Is this posible?
Kind Regards,
Bastiaan

Re: Un allocate space back to Free
Yes this is possible, but not always simple..
I'd start off by running a compactcpg and see what that yields.

Great. Compact CPG tell's there's nothing to do while we have decreased User User Size of an VV by running an reclaim on vSphere..

Re: Un allocate space back to Free
Take a look at the technical white paper "HPE 3PAR Thin Technologies", Nov 2015 (http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx%2F4AA3-8987ENW.pdf ). Focus on Thin Persistence starting page 33. Then look at "Appendix BтАФThin Persistence methods".
