I'm currently trying to update our Virtual Service Processor (running on VMware) to the latest version 4.3 P003.
I've preloaded the ISO "3PAR_Virtual_SP_4.3_P003_ESX_HyperV_software_QR482-10114" to the SPOCC. But when I try to perform the update, I receive the following error message:
This patch cannot be applied to 4.3.0.GA-17. The base version for 4.3.0.GA-24.003 patch is 4.3.0.GA-24.
So I downloaded the ISO "3PAR_Virtual_SP_4.3_MU1_Vmware_ESX_software_QR482-11031" to make the update to the version 4.3.0.GA-24. But this ISO file contains only the ovf and vmdk files to deploy the Service Processor virtual appliance in VMware and when I try to use this ISO-file i receive this message:
SP packages not found on /sp/prod/data/transfer/staging/3PAR_Virtual_SP_4.3_MU1_Vmware_ESX_software_QR482-11031.iso
Following a hint from this site I tried to use the ISO "3PAR_Physical_SP_4.3_MU1_software_QR516-11018 " for the physical Service Processor. And with this file it seems that I can execute the update to the version 4.3.0.GA-24.
Is this a supported way how to perform the update to the SP_4.3_MU1 or should I newly deploy the whole virtual appliance and update to the current version?

SolutionHello,
AFAIK this is the only way to update a VSP to a newer release. The VSP downloads only include the OVF files to deploy a new one. The physical ISO includes the packaged which are necessary to update a physical or virtual SP.
