Hello everyone.!
Im running SSMC 3.6.1.0.27 (VMware Virtual Appliance). Have noticed that latest version is 3.8.2.0.39. Is it possible to do an upgrade? If yes, how do I do this?
Or do I have to do a full install with 3.8.2? Any good step-by-step articles?
Best regards
Oyvind

SolutionHello Oyvind,
SSMC 3.8.2.0.39 is the version that you get when downloading 3.8.2 . This is NOT the latest one.
The latest SSMC version which includes the log4j security fixes is SSMC 3.8.2.1.
As you are currently running 3.6.1, the supported upgrade path would be:
3.6.1 --> 3.8.0 --> 3.8.2.1
Before you upgrade do the following.
1. make a snapshot of the current 3.6.1 VM
2.reboot the 3.6.1 VM and verify that after the reboot SSMC is properly working.
3. follow the upgrade instructions from the 3.8 admin manual (Section Upgrading SSMC appliance of the following link) and upgrade to 3.8.0 and then to 3.8.2.1:
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00117431en_us
If anything happens during the upgrade do a restore of your VM-snapshot.
Alternately install a fresh 3.8 SSMC appliance, and upgrade 3.8 to 3.8.2.1.
You can run the new SSMC in parallel to the 3.6.1 appliance, until you have verifed that the new appliance works.
Hope that helps.

Re: Upgrade SSMC 3.6.1.0.27 to 3.8.2.0.39
When you login to the administrator console then you will need to
1. On the main SSMC-GUI page, enter user "ssmcadmin" with the password of that user
2. click on the check box that reads "Administrator Console".
After login, the ssmc-GUI will then show you the list of connected arrays.
At the right upper corner there is a green "Actions" button, and if you click on that you should get a menue with "Upgrade".
