What exactly are the storage/memory Units KiB/MiB/GiB/TiB in 3PAR?

The entire computing world had been using the computing memory/storage Units Megabytes, Gigabytes, Terabytes. But the challenge here is a Megabyte measures 1,048,576 bytes in binary system, but it means 1,000,000 bytes in metric units. To address this discrepancy, the new terms KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, etc are introduced.

KiB = Kibibytes/Kilobinarybytes = 1024 bytes

MiB = Mebibytes/Megabinarybytes = 1,048,576 bytes or 1024 KiB

GiB = Gibibytes/Gigabinarybytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes or 1024 MiB

TiB = Tebibytes/Terabinarybytes = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes or 1024 GiB

In general practice, people still use the popular terms KB/MB/GB/TB. But in formal documents, you will see the terms KiB/MiB/GiB/TiB for legal accuracy.
